NEWS UPDATE: February 19, 2008 ::
The North American release date for the 3-way split featuring
Elemae/Memorial/Soon is set for Tuesday, April 29th, 2008. Please
bother your local record stores accordingly. If impatient, they are
available for mailorder now thru the Embrace Records page, and soon
from Engineer Records, who is now hosting a pre-order on both the UK
and USA store sites, until they arrive. Now please, be excited, if only
for a moment. Also, a track of ours from the split will be on an
upcoming covermount CD for the next Godless Magazine in the UK. We'll
keep you posted if we can grab some for some giveaways.
NEWS UPDATE: October 20, 2007::
From Engineer's site, we couldn't (or could) have said it better. (!)
...Mid-week, mid-October and we have an update with MUCH progress
on the upcoming split release between our own Elemae,
Memorial (ex-Rene Heartfelt) and Soon (Funtime Records
incredible band). All tracks are back from mastering and sounding
crisp, clean, and ready for pressing. (tip: The bands should be
sneaking some STREAMS of a track each on their myspace pages in the
near future, keep heading there!) We also have complete artwork for
this special release. This will be a digipak, with silver metallic
print and also an Enhanced section containing a new concept video from
Elemae, as well as a video track from Soon. Exciting times... We don't
have a release date yet, but hope to publish it in the not-too-distant
future! Tracks on this split will
be: ELEMAE "Pulse" "Hospitals &
Mazes" "Fiction Mouth" MEMORIAL "Who Are We To
Say?" "If It Helps" "Munich" SOON "There Go The
Boys" "Inverse Ratio" "Serenade The City"
Here's a preview of the split cover:
In other news, after many years, we're upping ourselves out of the fields
of Fredon, NJ and moving the HQ over to the woods of Milford, PA! If at first
you thought we liked even a little bit of civilization, well, think again, now
we're hiding ourselves even from the cows. We only feel comfortable with deer
and bear now...i swear we might all grow long grizzly beards and never return.
Lastly, we have many recording updates regarding our SEAWEED cover for the upcoming
Tribute CD "Hours and Hours: A Tribute to Seaweed" available on our MySpace
page blog. Check it friends, done tracking and mixing, and our clone child will
be off ti its "master" in no time
Has it been 5 months already? Sorry....here we go. We mixed our three tracks
and were all ready for the mastering prior to production on the split CD....Then
we decided it might need a remix. Oh joy. We do have a bit of time, as we await
Memorial's tracks, but we have heard Soon's 3 songs, and loving them already.
(We'll probably wear them out before the CD even gets made, sorry guys.) We
can't wait for you to hear their tunes, and ours. See below posts for details.
Hopefully we'll see a Fall release for this.
Smith and Craig went out in the field to shoot a day's worth of footage with
our vid guru Gus. (all video teams should have a "Gus" in their ranks, it just
sounds right) This is for the story-line video for the new track "Pulse" due
on the split. By the setting and raw footage alone, we already cant; wait. We
have about another day of shooting (the more intense shooting with the main
character, setting the plot, etc) and then Gus can apply his magic. Hang tight,
we'll get you an update sooner than later next time.
NEWS UPDATE: February
22, 2007::
Winter is biting out as we come to the end of February here in NJ, and recording
is complete at our Fredon headquarters. The surrounding fields are often frostbit,
if not snow covered, when we make it out on Elemae night, yet the evening stares
at us a little brighter as days creep in longer. Ok, down to the biz....a few
small bits of info. We finished tracking a week ago and began mixing these new
songs. (see previous posts) Tracking went slow but steady, yet it is a relief
to be done. The third track has been titled "Hospitals and Mazes" and
contains song saving re-arrangements on a couple lead guitars from Smith and vocal
changes. There are many "suprises" when recording, some good, some bad,
and things need to be re-written at times. This was one of those times, and yet
we think we came out better for it. The first 2 songs we completed were more direct
and interpreted more as originally intended. One slams us on a personal level,
we hope it will do that to you to. Might just be the best Elemae song we've written,
yet that is an opinion of the receiver, now isn't it? Now on to the mix, full
steam ahead. (well, as full steam as once a week, lets us progress!) Here's a
teaser recording session vid, enjoy! More on the next upload!
NEWS UPDATE: November 13, 2006::
Greetings from the studio. We're more than 1/2 way done in the recording of
3 new songs for our split CD with Memorial (Richmond, VA) and Soon
(Belgium). The songs are "Pulse," "Fiction Mouth," and a yet-to-be-titled
track we currently call "new wave." We've tracked all drums, bass and basic
guitars, as well as finished vocals on 2 out of 3 of the songs. We still
need to finish vox, add guitar flourishes and with luck, add a few other key
instruments to flesh out the sound a bit more. (keys, cello). Recording is
going well; we ran into a few hitches as usual, but we're back on track and
cracking at it in our Thursday evening recording sessions. Time tells us
this will be a mid 2007 release, but let's hope for sooner. We also have
our friend and videographer Gus shooting a storyline video for one of the
tracks, but which one is to be determined. If that goes smooth, you'll see
it as an enhanced portion on the split. Carry on, enjoy your Thanksgiving
and Holiday cheer, and be inspired.
P.S. The new Engineer DVD is out, we have a video track on it plus 19 other
very cool bands. Go get one!
August 07, 2006::
Hot Summer is here. Oh joy and perspiration. Great news...the REPRESS we've
been speaking of is finally here. Initiated by the all-too-kind Embrace Records
of Malaysia, in a joint release agreement with Engineer, the 2nd issue/enhanced
version of "Popular Misconceptions of Happiness" will now be available
for order through Engineer and Embrace as of next week. We won't list the specifics,
just scroll down a few news posts below and you'll see what makes this version
so "special." A personal Thank You note is deserved for our main man,
Saha at Embrace for his patience and detail through a couple of "productions
hitches" dealing with the pressing plant, that led to pushing back the
release date a few months. Well, good thing it won't affect our "certified
gold status" album sales, 1st week out of the box. No seriously, it won't,
trust us. Regardless, please head on over to either of the links that best suits
your desired 'click' and pick up one of these special Digipak's with some freebies
thrown in the package, like a unique sticker design, postcard and poster. www.EmbraceHQ.com
or www.EngineerRecords.com. (The Embrace Records website is launching very soon,
for now you can find them on MySpace, of course.)
Here's an update on the current recording status...
We've been recording for the past few weeks, for the trifecta split mentioned
in the previous news post. Both Drum and Bass tracks for all three songs already
recorded and sounding pretty fine. Thumbs up to both Dan and Mike for doing
an excellent job. We've already started the Guitar tracking last week, and fine
tuning the complimentary flourishes of both Chris H. and Smith's dueling axes.
These have to be our best songs yet, or why even do them, right? Oh the pressure...
We have firmed up one of the bands on this split and are still solidifying the
third. We can now mention that Richmond, Virginia's ultra-melodic MEMORIAL will
be sharing a few of their new tracks, and hit the studio in September. Some
cool things are happening for MEMORIAL right now, but we'll let them tell you,
we don't want to spoil their fun. Head on over to their Myspace page for updates
myspace.com/memorialband, and show them
some love. Glad to have them on, and we are sure they will turn-in nothing less
than a few amazing songs we'll be humming in no time. As far as the third band
on this 3-way split, we'll have to wait until next update to mention. But bottom
line, it' a great feeling to have some fresh material already in the works,
and also to share a unique release with a couple other great bands.
May 26, 2006::
Hello, and welcome to our Spring update. Sorry for the delay in the re-release
of the latest album, but there were some format difficulties for the enhanced
material that have recently been ironed out. (hooray, joy, etc...) and now the
release is back "on" the schedule for a more realistic end-of-june
release. you can find some further info here, plus listen to a track not on
our regular myspace player at myspace.com/EmbraceRecords.
Thanks for your patience, and we truly hope its worth the wait.
New plans for Elemae in the upcoming months? Well, amongst our crazy lives
outside of the band, we've have internally agreed to record a few brand new
tracks we've been working on for an EP/split band release. This will be a way
get some good new songs out there with our newest line-up, intensified sound
and act as a link between "Popular Misconceptions..." and our 3rd
full-length we are aiming for. Split bands/Information t.b.a., but it'll be
exciting for sure.
Thirdly, we were added to a Curmudgeon Records Compilation (myspace.com/curmudgeonmusic)
which features new and unreleased material or rare, hard-to-find material from
many New Jersey bands, new and old who have helped create the scene we all know
and love today. Curmudgeon is a Record Store in Somerville, NJ, very independent,
D.I.Y and completely run by the most humble and coolest staff in the world.
We are honored to be part of this, and support the store's cause--to keep giving
indie rock a home on the street, not just downloadable. They are truly standing
the test of time, and let's keep it that way. Elemae has our Shudder To Think
cover of "X-French Tee Shirt" on there, which is also on the new Malaysian
re-release of the new album. Other great bands on the comp's diverse list are:
God Forbid, Bouncing Souls, Nora, The Fire Still Burns, We're All Broken, World
Inferno Friendship Society, The Gallows and many more, we haven't received the
full list yet, but it's set to be impressive for sure. We even here talk of
a "double-disc" set, oh how special fro NJ. Thanks Bill, Shannon--Curmudgeon!
Lastly, we've added another compilation appearance in the "Disco"
section. Thanks to Paul and Brent of Coastline Records, who have included "Disappointment
Book" as part of their 17-track Coastline Records Compilation, who's label
and booking agency are located out of the great north, in the maritimes of Canada.
Be good to each other.
March 4, 2006 :: Site Updates
We have a new mini-player over to the right of the screen, which if you click
it, a small-one-step player enables you to stream 3 songs, click for bio, reviews
and album links over at the Engineer site. This is better than your X-Box so
try it out, turn up the volume, and have fun. (Thanks to the head honcho over
at Deep Elm for this. What a guy.)
Also, new for 2006, we have posted a small Quicktime video of "Disappointment
Book" over on the media page. Burn your eyes on that.
Lastly, we're awaiting the album repress to come in from Embrace--looks like
there is a "slight delay," so March is now looking like April. This
is a shocker because everything in the music biz is always on-time and airtight.
(cough, cough) We're excited about this though, we sincerely hope you enjoy
this new edition, so we can do a third run somewhere and redo the layout one
more time. Our friend Moz wrote us this note the other day:
"At the record company meeting, on their hands a dead star, and oh,
the plans that they weave, and oh, the sickening greed. Reissue! Repackage!
Repackage! Reevaluate the songs. Double-pack with a photograph, extra track
and a tacky badge. Best of! Most of! Satiate the need. Slip them into different
sleeves, buy both and be deceived."
Do you think he was trying to tell us something? He was rather vague.
January 07, 2006 :: "Popular Misconceptions of Happiness" to be released in
Malaysia on Embrace Records.
Hello. With our first update of the New Year, we have some GREAT Elemae news!
As of a few weeks ago "Popular Misconceptions of Happiness" is out of it's 1st
pressing through Engineer USA/UK and it will be issued a 2nd pressing through
another label oceans away from us, in Malaysia to be exact. Don't blink...YES,
Malaysia! Saha of EMBRACE 'ZINE has been a big fan of Elemae over the years,
and is now fancying himself A&R with a label called EMBRACE RECORDS, releasing
music in their homeland and surrounding countries.
This *Bonus Edition* will be issued as a cardboard digipak and Enhanced CD with video footage and 2 bonus tracks! The original layout is being reformatted for the digipak w/ an extra booklet, more panels. Also, as a bonus to this enhanced edition will be an Elemae 'mini-documentery' entitled "It'll Be Worthwhile: A Brief History" with 2 videos of the band in their rehearsal/recording space graciously brought to life by friend and video maven Michael Mead, as well as video commentary (out on location tracing
rehearsal spots, fave venues, recording landmarks, etc...). The extra audio tracks will be an unreleased B-Side called "The Earth Stopped and the Bottle Fell," as well as our cover of Shudder to Think's "X French Tee Shirt" originally released on a tribute CD to the band, unfortunately caught up in a distribution nightmare, causing the release to be somewhat hard-to-find. A rarity now made avail for all our friends and fans to hear.
Extra special thanks to Saha at Embrace, and Mike Mead from Cross The Floor productions for enabling this unique release to happen.
December 16 ::
Seasons Greetings from the gentlemen in Elemae. Hope you are keeping warm.
October 01 :: 2nd Pressing of "Popular Misconceptions of
Happiness"
We are pleased to announce that less than 15 copies of our latest "Popular
Misconceptions of Happiness" CD are available from the initial pressing at
the homebase of Engineer USA. We'd like to thank all our friends and fans
abroad, especially the devotees we have in Europe. All of you continue to
help us realize the true essence of music and the broad inherent connection
which occurs. Our existence as a bunch of friends, creating, collaborating,
recording and releasing music together is amplified by your support. It is
humbling to know that enough of you care, enabling this to happen, at our
own pace almost against the grain of a 'normal' modern or working band.
Those parameters are not ours, just creating music with depth, and honesty,
that gives us a strong pair of legs to stand on, is. Many of our peers,
turned into larger and hyped bands, have come and gone, lasting only a
fraction of the time we shared as elemae, 6 years and counting. We truly
value the connection we have together, and for this reason, we keep
reconvening in Fredon, NJ to continue what we have been apart of for so
long. With this said, we are pleased to announce a 2nd pressing of our
current full length has been made feasible. AMAZING. Thank YOU once again.

September 07th :: Labor Day Update
Hello everyone, we just wanted to thank everyone...bands, fans, friends -
who came out to the recent Maxwell's show this past Friday night. Near
sell-out, the bands Paulson and The Sleeping kicked it well (check out
onedaysavior.com for them), and fellow Engineer band, The Fire Still Burns
made it feel good that we can still involve ourselves in the punk rock game.
They rule, and still make shout-along-gang-vocals feel relevant! Seriously,
check the out sometime.
IMPORTANT: As an idea from our guitarist Chris, we are donating the entire
profit we made as a band that night to a New Orleans charity fund, as we
feel it is much more important than sinking it into band merch, etc at this
point. Hopefully a few more bands will follow suit on that. It's the least
we can do...and we are also asking for YOUR help, if you would like to
contribute to the cause, we can send it with our allotment. Please send a
payment via PAYPAL to craig@elemae.com and include your name and address
with it in the Paypal Comments field. We assure you it will be forwarded
down there, and every dollar sent, will be matched by the company one of our
wives works for--so you can't beat doubling the support. If you include
your address, we'll send you some stickers as thanks.
August 07th :: Slight lack of updates

May 25th, 2005:: SHOW CANCELED!
Unfortunately the June 18th gig was canceled. We apologize.
May 10, 2005 :: GOOD NEWS!
We may have found a suitable replacement for the bass position, but this
gentleman is yet to be unveiled. Time will tell if fate has finally given
us an easy task...in the rebirth of our low end. We thought we were in for
it, but a new energy has begun. Shows will resume in just a short while,
and none of us could be more excited for it.
Also, we'd like to announce that the official STREET DATE for "Popular
Misconceptions of Happiness" is less than a month away. JUNE 7th. If you
are not the type to place orders over the web, you will be able to find us
in good indie shops and some bigger ones worldwide. If your local mom and
pop store does not carry it, including Tower and Virgin, please ask them for
it! Remember to mention the bandname and label (Engineer).
Thanks Team Elemae.
April 19, 2005 :: Goodbye to Mark
We are sad to say that Mark Cooper, our bass player of 6 years, has called it quits. Unfortunately we had to pull out of the show for May 6th w/ Punchline. We nod to Cooper and wish him well, as he settles into a new chapter of life. We are seeking a suitable replacement, please get in touch if interested. Thanks.
April 14, 2005 :: New Elemae Video Added!
That's right, I have just added the new video for Sleeping With Adrenaline. You can find it in the media page or you can click here! Enjoy!
April 12, 2005 :: Minor Update!
Hey guys, just letting everyone know that there has been a slight change on the tour page. The Vault gig is actually on Friday, May 6, 2005. Sorry for the mistake.
PS: Photos are coming very soon!
April, 2005 :: NEW web launch!
Hello everyone! Well if you are reading this, you already can see we finally
have our new website up! How long has it been? Shhhh...don't tell. We
won't either. Hopefully you'll like the new design created by our new buddy,
Graham. He's friends with the Aardvark Brigade, and he is glad to be
aboard for our cause. Can I say we love him already? We just did. We'd love
to know what anyone thinks in welcoming this new design. Drop us a line. Just to let everyone know, more content will be added with time. Graham is currently working on bio's for each member and a photo's section. So look out for that.
We would appreciate it if you sent any comments or errors found on this page to the Webmaster Graham at beleven@gmail.com so they can be fixed immediately.
